Yes, cats and dogs CAN actually get along.
You might not see it when they first meet each other, however, like everything else, it takes time. You need to allow the animals to get to know each other and give them a bit of time. If a kitten and puppy grew up with each other, the relationship between them both should come quite naturally. When trying to get cats and dogs to get along, make sure there's at least 2 of you there incase you need to prevent any fighting or any other incident.
